Project knitwear

My next project is the making of this hat !
I once had to knit one when I was 12 for a schoolproject... We all would go for a ski-trip to Switserland and we all had to knit the same lightblue hat with a HUGE pompom on top !
You need 4 needles and I just couldn't remember how to start the knitwear. I went over to a shop nearby ; the lady sells wool and she helped me out.
The easier way to knit a hat and to avoid working those 4 needles is the thing you see in the picture. It looks like 2 little needles, connected together with some sort of wire.
It makes you see from the early start how the hat is going to look like...
...
Note : when we were in Switserland on our schooltrip, this guy from another school and same hat with pompom (other colour though) cut of his pompom to give it to me as a token of his love for me ...sweet no ?
Which of you guys can honestly say he/she got a pompom from an admirerer ?
Have a better story ; SHARE !

My grandmother taught me to knit but I haven't done it for years. Maybe I should start with a shawl? ;)

4 needles?? That's like...extremely hard. :P
Uhm, I can't share any love-stories that involves pompom....

I do remember the hat and the knitting very well... I hated the color and my mother did the knitting ! I also remember the box that had to be our trunk, my father painted it with those swiss mountains, do you remember that trunk ?

Haha, very nice. I just suck so hard at knitting, that I won't even try! Sell them, exclusive label from Antwerp :D

@Kika
hahahaha...my mom did some extra knitting for me too on that hat !
I didn't remember the trunk, but some far memory does ring a bell..
Can't imagine my parents painting anything at all !
I think some Princess Diana picture will have been on there ..with loads of glue !

I loathe to admit, I can't knit. I crochet.
I can believe some guy gave you his pom-pom, and I'd be willing to bet that's not the only "love token" in your collection.

Actually a girlfriend I had a few years ago crocheted (not sure if that's spelled right, it sounds funny) a blanket for me, and I do keep it on a couch!

@Mr C.
You spelled that right ! Those are the English words I know for sure LOL
Now that's someone who loves you very much ! Do you realise how long that takes to make ??
A pompom is made in just 5 minutes !
Says enough about how much somebody loves you ;-)
