I think it's the length of rue Rivoli (or even still is rue Rivoli) - when you would walk the other way you would find the Louvre at your right hand side (way down that road) If I'm not mistaking, the Tuilleries will be at your left hand side if you would cross that road...I'll check my map again, Paris is so big compared to my little home city... :-D
