How to 'work' on an addiction....(at least, it works for me)

I've been addicted to scarfs for years. But what makes an addicition a real addiction. ...? Having so much of just 1 item, at any price, that it isn't just an addiction anymore but a room-filling kitsch habit ?
I just read last night in my bed, that Ruby Wax once interviewed Imelda Marcos and was shown the 10.000 pairs she was the most famous about. Ruby - in her own candid way - said that it wasn't too difficult in filling a room with 10.000 pairs of shoes when most of them only cost like 20$ !!
Ok, that did it for me...Ruby is SO right !
And even as I speak, unconsiously - I've managed to calm down and have control over my habit in buying 2 or 3 scarfs a week...by having this wonderful and so longed for scarf, expensive enough to wear and cherish it for longer than a week.
My LV-sprouse scarf is screaming : Buy less - buy the best !
In this months Harper's Bazaar, by coincidence...my leopard scarf is presented as an accessory that transforms an outfit by the second ...
So,  I did think very well about this number and apparently bought a timeless piece.
...
Bye bye addiction, and a warm welcome to investment clothes and accessories !

Debbie & Sprouse

She's an icon to me !

I've never been a big Louis Vuitton fan (too many fakes going around and it's getting hard to tell wich ones are real and those who are not) but the wild animal print scarf with the Stephen Sprouse spray on it...I must say, I've never been like this but this number has been going through my mind forever these past weeks..I guess the people from the LV-shop in Antwerp must have been wondering why each morning, a greasy nose print was on their windows...:-O
Asked the price 3 times, rang to call if it was a 'keeper' (it is, in fact the brown one is...the other colours were season related), tried it on and asked my BHF Hilary what she thought and she loved it...
Now, the only thing that held me back was the price tag and the fact that I was even considering another scarf...(cold turkey, as I'm trying to cut down on buying scarves...it's getting ridiculous)
But in Paris - everything looks nicer - bigger - better and when a husband just pushes you over the limit (come on, it looks so chique...) hell yeah, I went for it and it didn't leave my neck since last Tuesday !
Silly woman, you all must think..ok, fair enough...but when I hear the shallowness of some women - and the way they are thinking about real issues (that prostitutes are disgusting, a killer should have no trial and be sent to prison for life, I'm a fan of Sarkozy...(is he in politics ?) and some other things that were too bad to write down...) I know I deserve some bit of shallowness too...let it be a scarf....:-)

PS heard those comments somewhere in Antwerp, getting a manicure and it was near one of the oldest bakeries in town, where there's always a queue to get in (for the insiders, they will KNOW where it's at - so, if you wanna get your nails done, don't go there !! It will make you even more nervous and getting a manicure, should be a relaxing thing, right ?)

The Foyer...

the ceiling

Since the creation in 1989 the Foyer has become one of the most famous meeting-places in Antwerp. It's a place to meet, have an apéro, cocktail, happy hour, lunch or tea-time avant-et-après-le-spectacle...
The theatre - were Brasserie The Foyer is situated on the bel-étage floor - was designed in 1827 by city building-master Pierre Bruno Bourla (1783-1866).
The majestic building is a unique witness of late-classical monumental architecture en preserved
(despite numerous en significant adjustments) it's balanced character...

Hilary and me had a play-date in this Brasserie today and enjoyed a USA inspired chicken sandwich with chips and/or potato salad ...

What to wear on a Saturday night out

After I closed up (work) I did a bit of window shopping (I never ever buy anything on a Saturday, too busy, too many people that distract you) and it's alway nice to see a wonderful window display like the one I saw at 'Louis' today. Louis is known for it's lovely brands like Margiela and they've put a special edition of the Brilliant of Delvaux in their window.
A 'Brilliant' is a handbag that was specially designed in 1958 for the World's Expo and has been their most succesful number since.
Because of it's 50th birthday, Delvaux has asked some designers to make a special and limited edition of this handbag...
The 'ceci n'est pas un Delvaux' is my favourite ...
