But not really. in fact, it's the beginning of a new phase in my life. In 3 weeks time from now, Mr. C and I will get the keys to our new house.
I already wanted to do something else with the blog - changing the style and it's subjects. So now comes a great opportunity to (re)start a new blog.
Still thinking hard about the new blog title but I might have found something, whilst reading this great book by Elizabeth Bard. Lunch in Paris is a book about a new beginning and somewhere between the lines, I found this 4 word nickname Elizabeth gave lovingly to her (then) future husband. I might change it into a more feminine title, to make it sound better for me and the things I wanna write about.

Now, what's the new blog gonna be all about ? (* click on the words "the new blog" above or on the main title)
Fashion will always be a passion of mine but I feel I could share more closer to me subjects.
For instance, I will have a better equipped kitchen and I might do a bit of Julia Child imitation here. I finally will have my OWN private workspace so I can invite you all in my world of creativeness. Sebastian's room will be the first of many home decorating projects (and I already have a neighbour, Karen who wants to find inspiration in his room and is invited to enjoy the final result for Sebastian's room - she has 2 sons herself). We made this deal a couple of weeks ago. Now, she said the 'hood' we are welcomed in, is a childfriendly, 30-40 something area, peaceful yet trendy but not the m'as tu vue scene we are used to live in right now ! I do have to admit I am pretty fed up by the constant presence of people. I mean, can't I just stay in my PJ's for my morning coffee ! Oh the hell yes !! The prospect of my own little city garden with a spot in the morning sun makes me jump for joy. *am clapping my hands as we speak*

I don't want to sound like a-social bitch but the 'Antwerpen Zuid' scene gave me the same feel as 'fried air' these last 2 years. It just did not feel home to me anymore.

If there's a label that makes me irrational, weak and spend money on shoes it must be MIU MIU.

EVERY 'bl**dy' season they present THE most amazing shoes.

I've checked their updated website today. Very nice collection. The fact they used a 14 year old model makes me quiver and not because I'm excited ! She's beautiful and lovely and all, but she's is NOT a women (yet)... Still, I'm drifting, this 1 picture made me clap my hands really fast. Look at those shoes !! Aren't they just amazing ? I can see myself clatter around my house in them !

I started CIRKUS about 2 years ago : it has been a rollercoaster ride all the way but I have to say that this, gives me even more pleasure than the shop I own.

The shop gets you closer to real people but the contact we have online through the Cirkus website is more fun. People are very excited, want to get to know you after they receive their first delivery. That's the biggest compliment a designer can get.

On our queste for a new coffee table, we can advice you to take a look at Zuiderlei Interiors.

Superfriendly lady of the house (= shop) gives you good advice for small or large interior challenges. I fell in love with this table that's available in fabrics like silk or velvet ; leather for the more extravagant or low maintenance type of table was evenly suggested.

Sometimes, opportunities come your way and they are just too good not to share them with you all ! Hey, a warm welcome to the new addition of followers. So glad you all joined Faces & Places.

In the next months to come, I will blog way more cause we are going to move to a new home. I already imagine me being the next Gizzy Erskine - showing off my cookery skills in a new setting. You can't imagine how happy I am to finally have a BIG kitchen ; a properly installed kitchen. What about a view like the one we have now but no proper place to have your guests seated ?

F*** the view ! I want real people in my house ; no Rubenesque grande dame hanging in front of me on a wall. Let a museum be a museum. It's closed now anyway, so we have nothing left but the view.

But I'm drifting cause the main reason I'm posting this blog today is my friend Henny, stylist, grande dame and almost hedonistic in her way of living. Not in the rock & roll kind of way, but ... seeing life through pink sunglasses.

She celebrated her birthday last Friday and here she was, inviting me to taste some (pink) pastries and bubbles (and it was only 11AM ! ha !)

We put our city on the (world)map again this weekend ! Finally the new musem at the River (Musem Aan de Stroom) has opened. This weekend ever1 was granted a free entrance, fireworks, rooftop concerts and so much more to celebrate this happy occasion. So many people today - massive crowds and everybody wanting to see the fabulous building architectually designed by Willem-Jan Neutelings.

We decided to join the crowds today but will pay an actual inside visit in a couple of weeks time. The hype will be reduced and it will be an opportunity to see more (MAS in Spanish :^) of this wonderful building and it's treasures.

The 10 story high building holds offices, a permanent collection, restaurant and partyfloor and panoramic rooftop view and so much more.

I've been a bad blogger.

As people start to react on the fact they've seen the same blogpost for some weeks and dissapointment strikes them as they open my link in their Favorites, I guess it's just time for me to get a grip and start working on some (more) frequently (posted) blogstories.

So I guess it's just fair to share my fave store in Antwerp ; my own little secret for these last couple of years. You must like the way COS presents their collection on the racks ; seeing through it and making a choice between all perfectly finished products. COS is like a mini concept store ; basicly drowned in black, midnight blues, white and off whites. Since last year they added some edgynes in presenting hints of fluorescent colours like green and orange.

Books, candles and jewelry are spread all around the store. Shoes and underwear complement their collection (and style). In fact, you can buy a complete season's outfit in case you would lose your luggage ; a good tip for any1 coming to a European country and suffering this loss and inconvenience. On top of that, prices are democratic and fair. Materials are pure and soft. Silk, cottons and cashmere are mostly used. For shoes, belts and bags it's soft leather.

I'll leave you guys with some pictures, a tiny hint of what you might expect from any COS store around Europe. But a visit won't do you any harm ; check them out and submerge in style and class that won't break the bank.

Lately, I'm developing a bad case of shoe addiction. I've always loved a good shoe but was somehow a bit avaricious to spend lots of money on them. I was or am more of a Converse girl.

After my 3 pairs at Marcoz last month (1 pair is still hiding in the box cause I feel a bit ashamed in what hubby will think) I got me another pair of lovelies. They were calling me in the window display when I went for my first run at the coast last weekend. Normally I concentrate on my running at this early hour, but the new shop just across our appartment has had a bad effect on me and my wallet.

The shoes I longed for aren't available in Antwerp, nor Brussels. That was the best excuse to buy them (correct: get them as my Easter present). I've only had seen them in a magazine so far.

So here we are ; looking at my tan leather stilettos with adjustable strap (red or tan) ... my inner Carry Bradshaw is coming out. Maybe the scarf addiction wasn't that bad after all compared to this addiction.

I like shoes. I'm not a shoe addict but I like my shoes to make a statement. I usually wear a lot of black, grey and nightblue so my shoes don't need to be demure. They have to clash !! I found some great shoes the other day at Marcoz*. They have a small selection but a GREAT choice. You just need to be quick if you really like that special pair. That makes me happy. Not to see the same pair on every corner.

Today I found some brogues** at their shop (again). The people are superfriendly and very helpful. What can't be said about that other shop at the Schuttershofstraat. I guess they just hire rude people with a smug face.

But I'm drifting : go and check their shop out ! With my compliments.

Did you hear the new single 'True Faith' by George Michael ? Not only did he cover a New Order song (one of my alltime favourite groups) but surprised us with a new look ; his glasses !

The glasses were designed bij Tim Van Steenbergen for THEO, one of our most famous (sun)glasses label in Belgium. Hubby wears THEO specs for years now (and is in desperate need to get some new ones confirmed by his optician).

What do you guys think about his new look ?

After so long I'm longing for another bag. I've been "shopping-bag-free" for 2 years. My big black Birkin was always at my side but I have to admit, it's a very heavy bag. Especially when it leaves you the space for loads of stuff and crap. The bigger the bag - the havier the load of crap will be.

Have to admit - a Birkin gives you free entrance and acces to lots of stuff. People do judge you by your bag. Sloppy jeans and old coat don't matter ; you have THE bag on your arm. It's like a VIP backstage pass.

Sounds surreal ? Well it's true.

Now, the new bag I have on my mind, is on the market for a while. It's a winner.

There's a possibility I don't get the chance to get 1. Apparently Fendi has a listing - almost like the Birkin bag.

A couple of months ago, there was a lot of commotion when it was said Gaga would be posing for Mario Testino on a secret location here in Antwerp.

Soon the word spread via Twitter the shoot was actually in that part of town where I live.

In fact, it was just across my house. I live in the South area and every day I enjoy the magnificant view of the Museum of Ancient Arts. Some of my oldest fellow bloggers here already know this, as they have seen many pics of me in front of it.

I was very eager to see what the pics would look like and today I recognized a chair and the mosaïc floor of our beloved museum...

I'm happy to say Lady Gaga was my neighbour for (just) one day !

Creativity never stops

Always fun to receive something unexpected on your doorstep. Not the usual stuff like bills and commercial crap but a genuine present.

The little bag contained such a lovely package ; almost too beautiful to open.

Stylist Henny made this on her hospital (!!) bed yesterday ; creativity never stops.

I do understand the woman. She likes me and I like to make stuff for her too. Sometimes an opportunity comes along and this morning she called me up to ask me to help her for a project for an interior and lifestyle magazine. It will be the May issue. It will have to be something with birds.

I'm working on it as we speak ! Once the mag comes out, I'll share my happy moment with you guys.

Tomate farçie à l'ancienne ...

Don't you just adore this whopper ? It's such a burly piece of pear.

My dessert for this evening.

I started to swim again ; I'm in need of some effort to relax afterwards. Sport makes the brain more alert - and it's a good way to loose some of that extra energy you can't get away with.

Also try to cut back on crappy food. More healthier snacks and meals.

Like the one I had this evening ; tomates farçies or stuffed tomatos. Sounds more posh in French doesn't it ? For the ones who give a damn, here's the recipe (and I want you to use your best Julia Child's air whilst cooking it !)

Ingredients

6 firm fleshy ripe tomatoes (2 1/2-3 inches in diameter)

1/4 cup olive oil

25 g extra lean ground beef (optional)

1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs

2 tb minced fresh basil leaves

2 tb minced fresh parsley leaves

3 tb minced shallots (scallions if available)

2 cloves minced garlic

salt

Freshly ground pepper

Pinch of dried thyme

Step1
Preheat the oven to 400ºF (200ºC).

Step2
Core the tomatoes by creating a wider circle around the stem and steadily cut the top center off with a sharp paring knife. Set aside the top center to cover the cored tomato like a lid. Then gently scoop out all of the tomato pulp using a small spoon. Cored tomatoes would now look like vessels. Then sprinkle each vessel with salt and pepper.

Step3
Combine the rest of the ingredients in a bowl, mix it with fork until well blended. Then stuff the mixture into the vessels. Put back the tomato lid to cover stuffed vessels. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Place them, cut side up, on a baking dish in which they fit comfortably.

Step4
Bake until the stuffed tomatoes are soft and filling turn golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.

Step5
Serve hot or at room temperature.

This recipe makes 3-6 servings.

We must, our Antwerp proud and one of the most beautiful shops in Antwerp is a subject we always want to blog about.

Still leaning on last season's collection - remember those wide 1950-ies MadMen style skirts ? Even Michelle Obama could not resist !

How different and airy this collection looks compared to the Winter of 2010.

My fav ? The glittery almost fishtale alike look seen in trousers and the shoes !! Wowza !

Compared to the 'style de mamie' shoes seen at MiuMiu and Prada, this is way funkier and they look so comfortable due to the (almost) wedgy heals.

I am not a shoe addict. My faithful followers know I have a scarf addiction. But the shoes Miu Miu has in store this season, are beyond amazing...

Sometimes a space is empty for so long you almost want to rent it yourself. That's the feeling I had before Vitrin came on the scene. The space they filled up is 1 of great potential. Airy and big windows, but not giving in on the cosy front. The best thing for me is their take-away coffee with soy milk ! Not the coffee itself but the fact they are an extra block closer to my own shop ; coffee stays warm longer losing the extra block !

Saturday a beautiful girl serves you at their counter ; flaming red lips and ravenblack hair smile right back at you ; I just love the extra glamour she brings along. Makes a Saturday morning less dull.

How to ...

make calissons ...Calissons are traditional French sweets consisting of candied fruit like melons or oranges and ground almonds. They are almost always topped with a layer of royal glaze. They look like marzipan but they taste fruitier. Calissons are traditionally linked with Aix-en-Provence in France.

I mixed apricots with almonds, a teaspoon of honey and icing sugar until I got a paste that I could roll out on a plate. Try to roll the paste until it's a little less than 1 cm.

Then use any circular shape form to make the cut-outs and cut each circle again into almond shaped mini pastries. Let them rest for a night and top them off with tick icing paste and decorate with edible goodies from your local cupcake store ...

Fact : I really like Fall and Winter.

It makes my dresschoices easier as I'm a scarfaddict, love love love wintercoats.

I totally get high on a crisp and cold morning ; it saves us women on blusher, makes you walk a bit faster so you've got yourself a little excercise surplus !

Doesn't your coffee taste better in November ? I know mine does !

Doesn't everything look more beautiful ? It's like we all have to replace the natural beauty of Summer by artificial, over-the-top extra's ...

Look at the packaging on your regular beerflask ; somehow someone decided to add a bit of Christmas to it. Little extra's are available and I crave panettone every single day from November till January. Lights are hung in our streets ; heaters to protect people that smirt outside when it's like -2°C.

I'm pretty veggie during Spring and Summer ; heat and meat don't combine well in my body but hey, I make up and stock my body with extra iron once November starts.

What's your fave thing during these 2 last months of the year ? Or do you really hate Winter and feel a bit depressed ?

BROES

That's me, slowly tranforming into a more creative person than I ever was ... having my own website for my own little label, having a ball with Erika, oldskool friend and now closer than ever.

We shared a place yesterday at Park Spoor Noord, for the BePARKte Oplage.

Displayed our creations and had extra company and help later on by Broes.

We are a 'ménage à trois' but in a creative way :^)

Also looking forward to our next little project at the Felixpakhuis where we will attend a special edition, the Sinterklaas 1.

It's our answer to the USA's Santa Claus, only we celebrate this December 5th and not at Christmas time (apparently, we love to celebrate cause that gives us an extra day to give/receive presents).

Still brill weather outside so I might just enjoy my coffee outside ... and enjoy the company of Lisa, the owner of Bitter Zoet ...

These kinda places always attract creative or arty people, just like this morning.

The 2 guys seen in the pictures are creators of a (new) character they'd like to become a household name to newspapers like De Standaard or De Morgen ... They draw and invent adventures for a short comic rready to be launched soon !

They gave good face too, as seen in the pics ! Thanks for posing for me guys !

Origami (part 1)

When hubby had to go on a businesstrip to Japan for the 2nd time, I would be more prepared in explaining to him what KAWAII means. The first he went, 4 years ago, he did not know me that well enough to see what I really ment by that. Being a Hello Kitty and anything cute admirer, I asked him to bring home childish, cute stuff. He came back and brought me Elle magazine, Japan edition, a bottle of Evian water with Japanese signs on it, a kimono (actually 3 !!) and newspapers. He explained to me he never saw anything cute on his way, except for the blossoming trees that, if you are lucky to be there, are just in full bloom.

When I saw the pictures of that trip later on, I could have easily break off our engagement cause in the pics he was posing in front of THE cutest shop where 100-dreds of Hello Kitty figurines and more cute stuff was shown in the window display.

After 4 years of marriage and strolling along many kids fairs for my own shop, he now knows what I mean when I say 'I want THAT' ...

So hubby brought along very cute stuff (also shown live on twitvid) and my much longed for Origami paper ! He brought LOADS !!

Now, I'm a visual person, I don't do written explanations and tried to make a figurine with the help of some youtube vid.

OMG !! So hard !! Let's try and skip the origami cat to begin with and start with an easy to fold 'gift box' ... I think I will use 'paper to practice' at first, cause I don't want all my beautiful flowery and kawaii origami paper to go to waist.

Yesterday, I had that first feeling Fall is just around the corner ...

Windy day, sun and rain every 5 minutes - falling leaves and the first fruits of the chest-nut tree on the ground. Fresh enough to bare a scarf - umbrella in my hand and the urge for a warm coffee with something extra. I discovered peppercino, cappu with ground pepper in it ! Delicious !

Did paint the kids' room in another colour and just as their newly painted room, school will begin tomorrow !

Early mornings, rush hour and daily routines make us forget this Summer and the amazing holiday feeling I had for the longest time.

Before we know it, we must lit our fireplace, prepare for an Octobre trip to Paris and Christmas preparations will let us know the New Year will be here soon !

Aaaah, Fall can be cold but always has it's charm too.

I did some little extra to spice up my holiday (being a neverending creative soul) ..

I will wait about 1 year to read all messages send to me and then choose the best story ever !

I took advantage of hanging them in the best place some1 could ever imagine ; near that famous bridge Ponte Vecchio, covered with jewelry stores (for lovers who decide to get hitched or engaged ... or just as a making up present :^)

Walking towards the Ponte, you'll notice these locks hanging on a chain ; they are hung there by lovers who want to point out their commitment to each other or just for good luck !

Perfect spot !

Now, not only Italians or tourists can write their story, even you, yeah YOU !

I really loved the relaxing time(s) we had in Italy but somehow that holiday seemed to short ; in fact every holiday is always too short. I just mean, by the time I had put myself in 'relax"mode, the holiday was over and I saw myself riding back home again.

After that, we stayed at home for 2 days to unpack and we hit the road again for our beachplace at the Belgian 'Costa'..now I can't complain 'bout the weather. It has been ok and my tan has had an extra update..very much needed cause I started to shine in the dark, I was this white after that long cold Winter.

So now it's time to pack again. Everybody is still asleep except Sebastian, he's watching kids stuff on telly and me, and me here and sitting, typing and staring outside my window, enjoying those last moments of 'freedom'.

Back to reality. Back to people I know and nagging about all those things that are not important.

I think I will tell them, hey ... our lives aren't that bad ! Relax and enjoy it, the time is now !

...

Workwise, I'm thinking about making a change in the near future. I would like to sell the shop and it's name and start a webshop with original kids stuff to sell on it.

I'd like to work more at home and have more (extra) time to watch and raise my kids.

So these last 4 weeks have been a period of reflection and looking back on how I've done these last 3 years and if this is really what I want to do for the rest of my life.

Have any of you considered an change ? Workwise ? Or more dramatic changes in your personal life ? Share them if you want .. let's make this Anonymous Sunday and write everything down in the comment space ... who knows, it might see you things more clearly once written down...it's so much more REAL !

No I will make it up to you guys cause this girl here is going to Italy again !

I don't want to bore you with my daily ongoing sh*t - my recent vegetarian way of living - or the part of my family that does my head in !

I don't even want to bother you with my 57890876th dress or hat I've been making, uhu ... I want to make you dream and crave a trip to Tuscany.

This year has been even worse than last year, stresswise that is and divorce is considered many times more than "what shall we eat tonight".

I may have my happy mask on almost all the time but inside I was raging, out of my mind crazy and my voice has hit high notes on the decibelmeter many times.

Luckily I can project my (bad) energy towards my creative skills and am I surrounded with a couple of wonderful ladies that share a similar passion and hey, they even want my shoulder to cry on when there lifes get to heavy to be happy all the time.

Maybe some distance from my country and hometown and a couple of people ...(in fact 2 people I don't want to see for a while and a LONG LONG time and I mean a LONG time) will see me things brighter and in another perspective. I'm on the verge on committing murder so, I guess I need to be surrounded with fabulous Tuscan light to keep my spirits high ! I need inspiration for crying out loud ! Not some attention seeking lowlifes that need a urgent and mandatory visit with the quickest available shrink if you please !

See, even as I write my anger makes me almost have a heartattack and makes this blood cook through my vains. Time to be away from it all and in fact say NO for good !

Yes to beauty, yes to inspiration and yes to positive people that feed me with positive vibes.

I want to have that 'I'm in love with life' feeling again...it's lost right now but not gone for ever.

Ever heard or seen the 'prop' guy or girl that is mentioned in the end trailer of a movie ?

Those are the ones that make the movie look 'GOOD'.

Can you imagine Mad Men without anybody doin' prop research ? Or James Bond without a beautiful martini glass or latest cellphone ?

Well, since last week I can call myself an official propmaker !

A friend of mine, Karen, is making a book about cupcakes and she does the photographs of her book too. She's a freelance photographer and she knew I was quite handy in making cute stuff.

So, she said, make some things to make the pics look better and complete such as an apron, dress etc. ..

This is the result and I hope you like it guys ...

Oh yeah, the book will come out in November, so stay tuned for that !

Let me share you these from today ; I was attracted to the golden horse balloons everywhere in town. Then it became clear to me ; they were the little Hermès horses !

We had a glass of champagne ; hubby bought himself a polo shirt (typical H orange) and me ... I got my balloon :-)

Another great discovery this weekend ! Graanmarkt 13 ...

A beautiful concept store that sells brands you don't see in every other shop and so glad they sell Mauro Griffoni too !

Next season their men's collection will be a fact too and one of these days hubby and me will definetely try out their restaurant.

What I'm most happy about it that they have the art work from Hella Jongerius. There's this 1 piece that's on my wishlist and I was SO thrilled to see it for real.

I am skipping anything pasta, rice and bread currently (making myself swimsuit ready). The hardest part is the bread part ; I love the smell of it, it's texture and the taste ... that's why I wanted to share this picture with you guys ... (craving, I'm craving)

Coats for trees

Walking back home the other day, I discovered this great initiative by people that live in that particular street in Antwerp. The trees are mostly used to display decorative elements ; practical and useful, they are often used as a support to help the birds find food in Winter.

Ornaments hang there, a treat to the eye, thinking about those poor creatures lacking of food and water. But this time it was the trees that got a decoration of their own. Cute wintercoats, knitted by some busy bee of the area. I couldn't resist and take some pics and share them with you.

I've always been a great fan of Zadig & Voltaire ... their style is casual chic, jeune Parisiènne meets GI Jane with some extra bling.

I'm a recycler and when I sell something in our local second hand store, I treat myself to something new. That's how I got the army blouse slash coat.

The fabric is heavy enough to be worn as a jacket and the compliments I got on this number have been awesome. The little details make the jacket feminine but also a little tomboy-ish.

The military style is hot now and luckily available in many stores ; I can step out of my black & navyblue numbers, stay basic and simple in my fabrics choice. Think Garance Doré ; she could be THE perfect Zadig & Voltaire girl.

Mo !

He has a lovely place near my house and the biggest advantage is that, on my way home after work, his business has a little outdoors space in the evening sunshine.

When, just like myself, you are sat indoors all day long, you really need to boost your vitamine K.

Mo has Morrocan origins and that's just great ! He makes THE most wonderful mint tea someone has ever made. Although Mo is a pastry maker, his tea is really good ! I think it's in Morrocan genes to create this perfect 'potion' that's so sweet it feels like a little angel pees on your tongue...:-)

I just love searching the grounds in charity shops ... they make me feel like a pirate on a treasure hunt. Can I be more thrilled when I find that something special to me ?

Just a very intimate post ! My hands were in a terrible state. Winter had left it's mark...

Dry skin, nails that didn't look too well ... on top of that, I started to bite them again.

Today I went in for a 'no appointment' treatment at Instant Spa. Full 2 hour manicure and pampering...

On top of that, I got me some Abricot Crème from Dior. It promises mutliple shine, improvement of the nails and resistance against the elements.

The little box actually looks exactly the same as when this product came out.

It looks adorable !

This Saturday we'll have a little classy party for me.. yay ! It's my birthday and I wanted it to be in style ...

Monday I went out on a hunt for the perfect dress ; think Mad Men / Rockabilly / add something new to it.

I wasn't going to this particular shop but when my eye caught this vintage black dress in the back of their window display, I was enchanted by the fabric and the total look of it.

You just need to be lucky to find just your size ; second handshops only have this 1 piece/each.

Guess what, the tag said yes ; I tried it on and it fitted me like a glove.

Me so happy ....

Now I need to figure out what to do with my hair ... any ideas ? Suggestions ?

Hubby and me been to Rotterdam (NL) today...just a 1 hour tops drive from Antwerp.

I promised the girls from Miss BonBon agency, Marieke and Lenny to pay a visit to their shop, next to their showroom.

It's a conceptstore for kids with lovely labels such as Mini Rodini, Munster kids, Holly's, Vans, No Added Sugar, Bobo choses and many more...

As you know by now, I can't resist anything kawaii (= cute) and if the package is cute too, I'm lost.

So if you're in Holland and near Rotterdam, take a look at their store ... it's too cute not to like it.

Amazing ; the guy knows how to dress women. I totally understand now why there were SO many people in his store when he re-opened after closing for 4 days to make the shop ready for a new season. Some items were sold out (!!) that same day. Crisis was far away at that point ... or maybe people just wanna have at least 1 good basic item to mix and match.

Dries van Noten has the art of picking THE perfect fabrics ; this dress is amazing. Perfect fabric, length, shoulders not too wide ...

Love at first sight : sequined jacket, furry leopard scarf and 'Casablanca' kind of trousers ...

High heels make the look complete ...

Totally my style ; short jacket (I'm only 5' 4"), black trousers and high heels ...(did you notice all these models have brown or black hair ?)

This morning my B(USA)F and me had a morning coffee ; well, to be honest, it was fresh ginger tea. When the Greek guy is not in at my fav coffee bar, I'll go for the ginger tea.

We catched up ; I gave her the PJ pants for Mr Monkey (her son), I made out of the fabric she brought me back from the States.

...

Sometimes you chat along and the subjects go from ginger tea to fabric, to the USA over to London, Chanel, good and bad friends, family, knitting and 'pompoms' !!

Apperently her husband is a prof-pompom-maker !! Yay !

I never imagined Koen (or any guy) making pompoms (unless they are treatened with a gun to their head).

So, next time I'll see her, Hil will hand over some of those fluo-wools I bought a couple of weeks ago and Mr S. will make me some real fluffy pompoms ! BIG ones ! I want them BIG !

As Mrs Slocombe would say : my pussy was lost last night and kept our entire family on a hunt in search of it !

I even suspected our nanny to be a psycho - she surely would have strangled our little darling and kidnapped our decapitated cat in her Mary Poppins bag she brings along every week.

So after I did my collections at Annemie's agency this morning, I wanted a head massage so badly, to get rid off extra wrinkles and a massive headache due to last nights events.

We really lost her and it ; gave up all hope and cried rivers all night long.

I eventually fell asleep watching CONTROL, a movie noir (we were so in the mood) about Ian Curtis of Joy Division...

until, at midnight, hubby gave me a push with his elbow and woke me up.

He held Jelly (the lost son) in his arms ...

I hate that cat a little for letting India, Sebastian & me cry all night long !

This fabric has been woodblock printed ; look how amazing this handwork looks !

Every day, I pass at least 1 time the Dries van Noten shop here in Antwerp. Not because I'm stalking the handsome salesman that works over there but just because Sebastian, my 5 year old, wants to take the tram to go to school. He has a tram-addiction. He likes the ride, watching all the stores he likes (particularly the mall where his fav playstore is) on his way to school. I'm a fool but I have to admit I like the warm cosy ride too - even though we are way quicker if we just would walk to school.

Since last Friday, new collection has been displayed in the DVN shop.

My nose must have left a greasy mark on every tram-window I have been on : this is such a beautiful display, EVERY time !

But this season ; WOW !!

He really got inspired by African/ethnic fabrics ...

He has managed to create a collection that looks Paris on top and African beauty down the waist ... LOVE it !

Correction : ADORE it !

Yesterday hubby picked me up in my shop after closing hours and normally we would go and have a relaxing drink somewhere in the city.

But I asked him to take a look at the window display at Dries'...

I'm getting inspired by just looking at this shop...

I even managed to get hubby inside. He likes Dries too. The suits are perfect for him.

The place was busy, crowded and except for this one politician + wife who 'polluted' the scene...everything was perfect.

Shoes, dresses, jackets, skirts, suits, scarfs, belts ..... aaaahhhhhh !

Hubby seemed to be mesmerized too ; he immediately 'fell' for this scarf and silk shirt ...

And he did not forget his lovely wife :-)

He got me this beautiful jacket and flashy pyton leather green belt.

I guess that's the trouble in being an only child, orphan and busy mom. I don't need to do mandatory numbers with family ; except for my brother & sister in law (I don't have any family left anymore, easy)

I love hubby's brother and his wife dearly ; they are so down to earth, take me as I am.

They know I'm creative, a busy bee and funny sometimes ; but I'm in no funny mood at this point.

I want to be alone or with hubby ; if hubby needs to work I submerge myself in my own little Nica world ; lonely breakfast, me and my knittin' needles, work work work, pick up Sebastian from school, take care of my kids and then take care of myself ...

It's like that 'nesting' feeling you have just before you give birth to your baby...moms out there will understand what I mean.

Another great thing in Antwerp (and probably available in many great towns around Europe and the USA) is limited sales in hidden places. Sussie's sells retro vintage clothes, shoes and accessories from the 70ies !

You pick whatever you fancy and at the counter they weigh what you bought ; it's 10€ per kilo.

Lien from the great blog Vermiljoen gave me this great idea if you'd ever found some dress in a wonderful fabric, way too big for yourself to wear, you could use the fabric to create something new !

This past week, I had an appointment out of town for Sebastian.

We had to see this kids-dentist, who is just great with kids Seb's age ...

On our way, the cab stopped in front of a red light and as I was looking outside I squeaked by the sight of this wool I was looking for like ages !!

Hot pink, bright green and the brightest yellow seemed to scream at me ; BUY US !!

So this morning hubby and I drove to Merksem and stopped our car 10 minutes before the lady opened her shop.

I've never been so excited as this morning (I know, don't ask...it's always the stupidest of things that make me happy as a child)

Inspiration has been haunting my brains this past week and I'm happy to say I can start thinking about new ideas ... bright ones !!

Those are the surprises that give people the most pleasure ; the unexpected ones !!

A year ago I asked if it was possible to do overseas shipping about this stuff sold on Etsy ...

It wasn't ; I was somehow dissappointed cause, everything I ever found through Etsy, came to me by overseas post without any problem.

A few weeks ago, a convo/message came in my personal mailbox ; the message said to send an address ...

And look, a year after my first attempt to buy these lovely handmade birds for my Christmas tree, I got 2 and for free !

The red string is meant to avoid the 'evil eye' or bad energy from other people...

Red is the colour of life en wanting to accredit, receive it. The string is always worn on your left hand ; according to Kabbalah this is the receivers side of your body. Of course, anyone can wear such a string but it only offers protection if you're not a negative 'vibe' yourself. So the string also works as a reminder to be aware of what you are doing in and with (your) life. The way to knot is also important ; 6 knots have to lie on top of each other and represent each a different prayer ....

If religion was something I'd be in to...I guess Kabbalah or Buddhism would be the closest to me ... at this point, let's say I'm Agnostic ...

This for example is a very cute shop on the other side of town ; the Zurenborg area. Every beautiful place, can be an inspiration. You can see the woman behind this store and concept has put her heart and soul into it ; I just love that. So I don't see her shop as competition, rather as a soul-sister. This week, my shop will appear in Knack magazine ; it's a special eco-edition (I have the concept in mixing old & new) and they want to mention the fact I also sell second-

hand/vintage kids clothing. I am very happy with that, cause it's a well read mag and it gives us an extra boost and free advertisement. Sunday hubby and me are headed to Amsterdam (again, it goes so fast) to choose the next Winter collection 2010-2011 ! Yes, the new year just started and we are talking 2011 already.

I'm looking forward to that cause it always inspires me and I promise to take lots of pictures !!

March 20th ; my own birthday ! 39 already !! Gosh !

March and April bring Spring, sun and warmth ; every1 enjoys it !

Sebje becoming a big boy ; playing in his own world of pirates and Harry Potter ...

On April 30th (a dark day for the Dutch Royal family and people this year) my India became 12 ! Yippie !

1st of May parade ; always an event in our neighbourhood

This is the sign the weather is really improving ; people on the stairs of the Museum and barefoot in the water in front of it ...

Postcrossing became a new hobby ; I have to admit I haven't been a faithful follower anymore but I'm working on those Christmas-cards as we speak !

Baby shower market and showing off my goodies .... Spring brings us joy and sun !

May is the best month of the whole year ; not too warm, not too cold and perfect for breakfast outside... and look who became new best friends ; Big Seb and Mr Monkey ...(Seb can't wait to play soccer with the guy) (grow up already !!)

Review of 2009 (part 1)

The year 2009 ; what a year this would be... sometimes it's better not to know what the future holds ... I've had my share in being afraid to loose people I like and love ... I guess it gets harder every year !

My son Sebastian, he has changed a lot ; I finally get to a stage that I'm gettin' to know and understand him better after 5 years. He's a special boy and needs a little bit more attention and understanding compared to his sister (she was a walk in the park as a little girl) ...

In 2010 he will change schools and mum will know and need to learn how his mind works.

I must say of all our 3 children, Seb is the sweetest ; he's the most affectionate towards us ...

he really shows it when he loves you ...

In 2009 my fav mag dissapeared and I miss it so much ; it always made my day and made me ever so happy and inspired ! I have kept all these mags of Living of the last decade and they survived every move in my live, hehe ...

Bro and sis still playing ; this had changed somehow, India finds herself way too cool for us now :-/

Mum's got herself some bangs ! Yay ! Finally did it in February ...

February or March, I began something that is still goin' strong as we speak ... maybe the beginning of a new label !

in March, India teached me a new song, Pokerface and I immediately became a huge fan of a lady called GaGa ... :-)

March brought us sun and new sunglasses ; I've never loved mine so hard as in the year 2009 !

and with Spring, warm evenings came back and put us outside to wine & dine ...aaaahhh !
